The discovery of cetyl myristoleate began in 1962 when research scientist Dr. Harry Diehl from the National Institutes of Health was given an assignment to create arthritis in a certain group of mice to test a new arthritis drug. Because injections of Dfreund’s adjuvant induces arthritic symptoms in most animals, Dr. Diehl proceeded to inject Swiss Albino mice. But, he discovered the mice did not develop arthritis.

Wondering what the Swiss Albino mice had in their body‘s that prevented them from getting arthritis led Dr. Diehl to isolate a substance that was unique to this particular mouse. He found it to be a fatty acid ester that we now know as cetyl myristoleate. Dr. Diehl’s landmark article, published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1993, concluded that it was apparent that cetyl myristoleate gave virtually complete protection against adjuvant-induced arthritis in rats.

Although Glucosamine is less effective than cetyl myristoleate and takes longer to work, it has been shown in multiple studies to be more effective than NSAIDS and without the toxicity. Researchers have found that without adequate amounts of glucosamine, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and blood vessells lack integrity, leaving them vulnerable to damage and subsequent discomfort.

100% Collastin, is produced by a proprietary microfrationation process delivering the highest quality cetyl myristoleate complex available. The Collastin complex is micro-encapsulated with lysolecithin to aid in emulsification and provide enhanced bioavility.
