Enzyrest
Should be combined with Collastin for first 3 months use.
Enzyrest was designed to be a support to the Collastin formula. As such, its mission was to support the body in reconstruction of damaged or aging tissues, restore joint and muscle function and lubricate well-worn body tissues.
The Enzyrest Support product is a natural enzyme-arresting complex of plant nutrients, or phytochemicals, that have been found to inhibit the COX-2 enzyme and other important enzymes that are implicated in the degenerative, inflammatory process related to all damaged or aging tissues. The daily recommended dosage of Enzyrest Support contains 1500 mgs of Glucosamine. Glucosamine is an amino-sugar that supports the body's efforts in the creation of larger molecules, called glycosaminoglycans, which are used to make up tendons, ligaments, bones, cartilage, mucous membranes, and synovial fluid. For those who understand the importance of chondroitin sulfate, you'll be happy to know that your body will create chondroitin sulfate from glucosamine. And, glucosamine is much more highly abosrbed, or biavailable, than chondroitin.
If you watch television or read magazines, you may be aware of two pharmaceutical products that the drug industry is very excited about, Vioxx and Celebrex. Both of these drugs are designed to treat the various forms of arthritis by inhibiting a pro-inflammatory enzyme known as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), while not interfering with the COX-1 enzyme, which is responsible for supporting the production of the protective coating found in the gastrointestinal tract. Since gastric bleeding (related to over-use of prescription and OTC anti-inflammatories) is responsible for approximately 20,000 deaths and over 2 million hospitalizations each year, you can begin to see the importance of being very specific in which enzyme is inhibited, and why the pharmaceutical industry is so excited about these two medications. As with any drug, however, there are always side effects to consider and many of these damaging effects are just now starting to surface.
Dr. Chuck Cochran explains that pain and inflammation are complex processes involving a series of actions or reactions and numerous physiologically active substances, such as bradykinin, histamine, thromboxanes, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes. Two of the most important groups of chemicals involved in the production of inflammation and pain are the prostaglandins and leukotrienes. These hormone-like substances are produced in injured tissues from the action of phospholipase (another enzyme) on arachidonic acid, a fatty acid, found within the damaged cell membranes.
The production of these pro-inflammatory chemicals requires two groups of enzymes, the cyclooxygenases and the lipoxygenases. Cyclooxygenase is responsible for converting arachidonic acid into the unfavorable prostaglandins of the 2 series, and lipoxygenase converts arachidonic acid into leukotrienes of the 4 series (LTB4, LTC4, LTD4, and LTE4), increasing blood vessel permeability resulting in tissue swelling and tenderness, which characterizes inflammation. Leukotrienes C4 and D4 also contribute to inflammation by cutting off the blood and nutrient supply to various tissues. Prostaglandins of the 2nd series, like PGE2, produce redness, swelling and pain in the damaged portion of the tissues. Many of our pharmaceutical drugs work as anti-inflammatories and/or analgesics by suppressing the activity or production of these enzymes. For instance, aspirin has been found to inhibit the cyclooxygenase enzyme. Unfortunately, it inhibits both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, and consequently contributes to gastric bleeding, and unbelievably further, increased damage to joint tissues!
Countless studies have shown that the phytochemicals found in Enzyrest help to restore normal musculoskeletal function in sever ways. First, Enzyrest has been found to inhibit the activity of both the COX-2 and lipoxygenase enzymes. By interfering with the conversion of arachidonic acid into the unfavorable prostaglandins and leukotrienes such that, pain, inflammation, and loss of muscle and/or joint function is kept at optimal physiological levels. Some of these same phytonutrients function as powerful anti-oxidants, which help quench free radical production and subsequent damage done to our tissues. Some of these same phytonutrients function as powerful anti-oxidants, which in their efforts to clean up damaged tissues, actually further damage! One particular group of phytonutrients found in Enzyrest, in fact, have the ability to stop the migration of these out-of-control immune cells (chemotaxis) to the sties of injury. These immune cells are responsible for further damage by releasing free radicals and protein-digesting enzymes, called elastases and collagenases, which break down elastin and collagen found throughout joint tissues. It's quite ironic, isn't it? The system that's designed to protect us also has the ability to destroy us and most importantly, Enzyrest has no known side effects. It's very safe and well tolerated by most everyone. |
